Many people use lash extensions because they are a very simple and temporary way to make your lashes look bigger and fuller.
Even though they are very simple to use, they still require some attention and maintenance because if you don’t take care for the lashes, they won’t last you long time. So, let’s take a look at some of the reasons behind why your lashes might be falling out.
9 Reasons Your Lash Extensions Are Falling Out
1. WEARING MASCARA/WATERPROOF MAKEUP
When you wear lash extensions you don’t need to wear mascara because the mascara can break down the adhesive that holds the extensions. If you still want to put on a little bit of mascara you should apply it from the middle of the lash to the ends. Waterproof mascara can be harder to remove which is why you should avoid using it.
2. OILY SKIN OR OVERLY ACTIVE OIL GLANDS
If your skin is too oily you might experience issues with your lash extensions because the oils can break down the glue adhesive and make it difficult for the lashes to stick.
3. TECHNICIAN ERROR
Even though the technicians are usually experienced people, there is still a possibility for errors. The technician might not have used enough glue or has not properly glued the lashes on, or did a bad prep before applying the extensions.
4. PICKING OR RUBBING THE EXTENSION
Everyone rubs their eyes once in a while, but when you do it excessively you can loosen the adhesive and the lashes might fall out. You might also lose your own lashes as well. Therefore, stop rubbing your eyes!
5. SLEEPING STYLE
People sleep in different positions, but those who sleep on their stomachs will have issues with the lash extensions. When you put your face on the pillow each night you will rub the lashes against the adhesive, or bend the lash extensions.
6. NOT CARING FOR THE LASH PROPERLY
If you don’t properly clean your extensions you might cause inflammation or irritation of the hair follicle. You should also brush the lashes with a brush or a spoolie every morning. Clean the brush or the spoolie when you are done and use gentle strokes when you brush them.
7. USING THE WRONG SKINCARE PRODUCTS
You shouldn’t use oily skin care products because the oil can break down the adhesive of the extensions.
8. GETTING THEM WET TOO SOON
You shouldn’t wet the new lash extensions for the first 1-2 days because the glue hasn’t dried out completely. If you wet the lash extensions they might irritate your eyes because the glue can crystalize. You can wet them after they have completely dried.
9. NOT USING AT-HOME CARE
In order to make your lashes last longer you should use sealants to coat the lash and glue in order to repel any dirt or oils that can break down the glue.
You should take good care of your lashes if you want them to last longer and to avoid any complications.
